Runners have a long history. Both within the BOMAT family business and in interior design across cultures. To begin with, they are convenient: they soften the sound of those going up and down the stairs, they have a protective capacity and make a step less slippery. But above all, they make an aesthetic statement. They interconnect spaces, transforming an interior into a repertoire in which the staircase either unites with the different characters of the rooms, or boldly opposes them, performing a solo with notions of verticality and horizontality, of rhythm and movement.
Named Clayscape: Runners and More, BOMAT launched in 2025 thier first dedicated new collection of runners, composed of ten distinctive qualities. In creating this line, we mainly looked back to our first Clayscape collection, which also marked the beginning of our renewed BOMAT vision. Somehow symbolic, but mostly because of the extraordinary hues we then distilled from nature, and the soothing tones of the earth. BOMAT played with traditions, varied familiar themes, took the archetypal border as a starting point to arrive at an entirely contemporary and refreshing collection. All while remaining true to its commitment to in-house design, its striving for excellence and its belief in centuries-old craftsmanship.
